Press Release
On May 9, Allumination FilmWorks LLC Debuts Two Quirky Coming-of-Age Comedies Available for the First Time on DVD

SUMMER and HATLEY HIGH

Woodland Hills, CA – Allumination FilmWorks, a leading independent entertainment company, is proud to debut two comedies from Canadian-based Seville Pictures: Hatley High and Summer arriving for the first time on DVD on May 9.  Winner of the two Film Discovery Jury Awards at the 2005 U.S. HBO Comedy Arts Festival (Best Director, Phil Price and Best Screenplay Miles Hainsworth), Hatley High is a clever, hip, quirky film starring Nicolas Wright (The Greatest Game Ever Played) and Canadian actress, Rachel Lefevre (Head In The Clouds, Noel).  Summer stars Amy Sloan (The Aviator), Karen Cliché (Riders, Protection), Stefanie Buxton (Wicker Park, My First Wedding) and tells the story of three childhood friends who try to enjoy one last summer of immaturity after graduating from college. Both DVDs are available for $19.98 SRP and are unrated.

Hatley High is not your typical high school and it’s legendary sports team, The Knights, are not your typical jocks.  They are the finest, toughest and most feared players of chess!  When new kid Tommy (Nicolas Wright) arrives, his chess-playing skills threaten to upstage team captain Shaun and end up catching the eye of head cheerleader Hyacinthe (Rachelle Lefevre).  With the Russian team arriving for the match of the century, can The Knights pull it together to defend their legendary reputation? Not your typical teen movie, Hatley High is a hilarious, touching story of true love and high-stakes chess set in a small town full of surprises!

Summer stars Amy Sloan (The Aviator), Karen Cliché (Riders, Protection), Stefanie Buxton (Wicker Park, My First Wedding) and tells the story of three childhood friends Miller, Charlie and Stef who have just graduated from college and are trying, against steadily increasing odds, to maintain their free and easy lifestyle.  Summer living has always been their common bond, filled with poolside “Board Meetings” and hanging out.  But in their determination to have the “perfect summer” each of the “Members of the Board” are desperately trying to avoid the realities that lie ahead of them.  Soon, the heat of summer mixed with the complexities of relationships, friendships, careers and taking the next step in life becomes too hot to handle.  The question becomes how long can they selfishly cling to their old ways before they realize that summer is a season, not a way of life?

Launched in August 2002, Allumination FilmWorks quickly established itself as an important and dynamic new player in the distribution of quality entertainment to broadcast, satellite and cable television and home video markets worldwide.  Allumination has succeeded in building substantial libraries of theatrical motion pictures, television series, documentaries and reality programming, music and sports specials, lifestyle titles, and a wide array of “how-to” product.  The company is owned by top entertainment veterans Jeff Sagansky and Kerry McCluggage.  Visit Allumination FilmWorks at www.alluminationfilmworks.com
