SCHOLASTIC MEDIA ANNOUNCES ANIMAL GENIUS FOR THE LEAPSTER LEARNING GAME SYSTEM

Animal Genius Teaches Kids About the Vast World of Animals Through Fun Games and Interactive Activities

NEW YORK –April 18, 2006 – Scholastic Media (SM), a leading producer of quality, family-oriented media including feature films, home video, TV series and software, today announced the software title Scholastic Animal Genius™ for the LeapsterLearning Game System from LeapFrog Enterprises, Inc. Designed specifically for children, grades K-2, Animal Genius features innovative games and activities to teach early life-science concepts and fascinating facts about kids’ favorite animals. The game encourages young children to think and act like scientists, as they learn about the commonalities and differences among species, sort animals by physical characteristics and match animals to particular traits. Animal Genius is scheduled to be released in July 2006.

“The fun games and activities of Animal Genius teach children about the colorful world of animals and continues Scholastic Media’s tradition of offering the best in children’s educational software,” said Alan Waldman, SVP and General Manager of Scholastic Media’s Interactive Products Group.

In Animal Genius, players complete activities to earn 25 different animals for five animal habitats: Rainforest, Grasslands, Ocean, Arctic and Woodlands. Featured animals include a jaguar, a giraffe, a sea turtle, an arctic fox, and a raccoon. The product offers five different activities: “Maze Munch,” “Scratch and See,” “Feature Finder,” “Matchomatic” and “Animal Expert”.  Through the activities, children build an understanding of animals and their environments, cultivate important scientific reasoning skills, and grow fundamental science vocabulary.
