Press Release
MATTHEW LEUTWYLER’S TERRIFYINGLY HYSTERICAL HORROR COMEDY
“DEAD AND BREAKFAST”
AWAKENS ON DVD SEPTEMBER 6 FROM ANCHOR BAY ENTERTAINMENT

DVD will be available in Unrated and R-rated Versions;
Release Marks Anchor Bay’s First Day and Date Release on Universal Media Disc (UMD)

TROY, MI – Dead and Breakfast, Matthew Leutwyler’s outrageous take on the “un-dead” genre, featuring the world’s hottest “Ghoul Line Dance”, raps its way from the big screen to DVD when Anchor Bay Entertainment proudly presents this critically- acclaimed horror comedy in separate Unrated and R-rated versions on September 6, 2005. In addition to the DVD version of the film dubbed by Ain’t It Cool News as “the U.S. answer to ‘Shaun Of The Dead’,” Dead and Breakfast will also be available day-and-date on the Universal Media Disc (UMD) format for the PlayStation Portable (PSP) handheld entertainment system. This is the first time that Anchor Bay simultaneously releases a title in both formats. SRP for the DVD and UMD is $19.98.

Written and directed by Matthew Leutwyler as a personal love letter to horror films, Dead and Breakfast turns convention on its ear – while tearing a few off in the process! -- by applying generous amounts of tongue-in-cheek humor and a documented 34 gallons of fake blood to an original sound track by noted songwriter Zach Selwyn, who also appears in the film as a singing ghoul.

The DVD release of Dead and Breakfast is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound and checks in with a full house of bonus features including:

• Widescreen presentation, enhanced for 16x9 televisions
• Audio Commentary with Writer/Director Matthew Leutwyler, Special Effects Supervisor Michael Mosher and Actor Erik Palladino and Songwriter Zach Selwyn
• Audio Commentary with Writer/Director Matthew Leutwyler and Actors Ever Carradine, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Erik Palladino and Oz Perkins
• Deleted & Extended Scenes
• Bloopers
• Trailers
• Poster / Still Gallery

Anchor Bay Entertainment is promoting Dead and Breakfast through a multi-level marketing campaign including national television and genre/industry print advertising as well as an intensive viral internet campaign. Additionally, the film will be cross-trailered on several upcoming Anchor Bay Entertainment DVD releases.

Dead and Breakfast tells the story – in song and scream – of what happens when a seemingly innocent road trip goes awry. Six friends on their way to a wedding in Galveston, Texas stop for the night at a quaint bed and breakfast in the sleepy town of Lovelock. But after a night that ends with both the inn’s owner and his chef dead, the gang find themselves under suspicion by the local sheriff. The mystery rapidly deepens when the already bizarre residents of the town become possessed by an evil spirit and pin the friends down at the B&B. Armed with a rusty chainsaw, a can of gasoline and a half box of shotgun shells, they must barricade the house and fight for their lives.

Not only does Dead and Breakfast offer up a extra-large portion of chills and laughs, it also offers a great ensemble cast featuring Erik Palladino (ER, U-571), Oz Perkins (Legally Blonde, Not Another Teen Movie), Diedrich Bader (“The Drew Carey Show,” Office Space, Napoleon Dynamite), Jeremy Sisto (“Six Feet Under,” Clueless), Portia de Rossi (“Ally McBeal,” “Arrested Development,” Scream 2), a special appearance by David Carradine (“Kung Fu,” Kill Bill. Vol. 1 and 2) as “Mr. Wise,” and more!

Dead and Breakfast is being released theatrically on a platform basis during Summer 2005. Initial first-run engagements include San Diego, Los Angeles, Montreal, Chicago, Dallas, Portland, Seattle, Minneapolis, and will continue into other key markets through the beginning of September. Additionally, the film has enjoyed huge success with screenings at international film festivals within and outside the United States, where Dead and Breakfast has won awards for Best Film.

Audiences aren’t the only ones who have given Dead and Breakfast two severed thumbs up! The New York Post gave the film three stars and called it “totally entertaining” while IGN Film Force declared “Dead and Breakfast Rocks!” Creature Corner said “Dead and Breakfast is a filling meal of frights and laughs” and Weekend of Fear named Dead and Breakfast “the best splatter-comedy since Peter Jackson’s Braindead!”
