Princess Hours touted as one of Korea’s biggest hits in 2006
New York, August 14, 2006—ImaginAsian TV announced today that it has acquired the widely popular Korean drama serial “Princess Hours” from the Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC). “Princess Hours” is scheduled to premiere August 28th on iaTV at 8:00pm ET/PT.
“Asia is abuzz over the popularity of ‘Princess Hours,’ the hit Korean drama series of 2006,” said David Chu, SVP of programming and production at ImaginAsian TV. “Based upon a best-selling Korean comic book series, this series drew audiences in from all over Asia with its inspired love story and cast of Korean pop stars. The addictive nature of Korean drama series-viewing has become well known around the world and we’re committed to bringing American audiences these quality Asian programs for everyone to experience.”
The drama serial will be aired in primetime and will be accompanied by “The Lounge,” ImaginAsian TV’s signature original program hosted by Emily Chang. “The Lounge” host-wraps, done in English, will give viewers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the series, as well as introduce them to the newest trends in Korean culture. The drama will be aired in its original Korean with English subtitles.
“Princess Hours,” featuring 24 sixty-minute episodes, is a modern day Cinderella story that takes place in a fictional Korea under a constitutional monarchy. Sparks fly when Chae-Gyung, a commoner, finds herself married to the Crown Prince of Korea due to an arrangement made by their grandfathers. The plot thickens when the Crown Prince’s cousin and former girlfriend come into the picture, both also vying for the throne. Tension builds and emotions flare as the beautiful foursome struggle through their new responsibilities and changing relationships.
“Princess Hours” stars Yoon Eun Hye of the girl group Baby V.O.X, model Joo Ji Hoon, Kim Jung-Hoon of the band UN, and actress Song Ji Hyo.
