The Point of No Return

Tartan Asia Extreme’s R-Point in Stores Nationwide Feb. 14th

“If someone threw the script for The Shining and Full Metal Jacket in a blender,
this is pretty close to the concoction that would come out. This is one of the most original Asian horror films that has been released in the last few years. ”
— Film Threat

“Kong Su-Chang's R-Point is maybe the best
military-guys-meet-supernatural-evil flick since Dog Soldiers.”
— San Francisco Bay Guardian

“The latest in the line of innovative, brilliantly directed and supremely
atmospheric east Asian horror movies.”
— Firecracker magazine

LOS ANGELES — Feb. 1, 2006 — For Immediate Release — War is hell. From writer/director Kong Su-chang (Tell Me Something) comes the Korean creepfest R-Point, marching onto video Feb 14th in stores across the nation from Tartan Video Asia Extreme.

During the Vietnam War, a South Korean army base begins receiving radio transmissions from a patrol that went MIA in the desolate stretch of land known as R-Point six months earlier. A shell-shocked commanding officer (Gam Woo-sung) and a ragtag military unit are sent into the murky, enemy-infested swamp to gather clues to the whereabouts of the missing soldiers. Upon their arrival, they find an abandoned building surrounded by the graves of those who entered R-Point before them … and a warning that reads, “No Return.”

R-Point is the #4 grossing horror film in Korean box office history, as noted by Screen International. The film stars Gam Woo-sung, star of recent Tartan Asia Extreme DVD release Spider Forest.

Korean, with English and Spanish subtitles, R-Point is presented in anamorphic widescreen, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound and DTS Surround Sound 5.1. Special DVD features include director’s commentary; a history of R-Point; behind-the-scenes: special effects; production design featurette; original theatrical trailer; and trailers of Tartan Asia Extreme’s upcoming releases.

All releases on the Asia Extreme label are supported by broad-based and multi-faceted consumer advertising campaigns; a comprehensive online viral marketing campaign; and a public relations push to English-, Spanish- and Asian-language media.
