LOS ANGELES — Feb. 1, 2006 — For Immediate Release — With an atmosphere reminiscent of Alien and Blade Runner, Natural City – which weaves a tale of mortality and obsession with jaw-dropping visual effects and Korean style – morphs onto DVD Feb. 28th from Tartan Video Asia Extreme.

Rebuilt after a devastating war, the world of 2080 has given rise to advanced technologies including the creation of cyborgs. Created with artificial intelligence (AI), human-like emotions and great strength, they serve mankind for their entire short lifespan. When the cyborgs revolt, Noma (Yoon Chan) and R (Yoo Ji-tae, Oldboy, Antarctic Journal, Lady Vengeance) lead an elite military squad ordered to eliminate the rebellion. Unbeknownst to anyone, R is harvesting AI chips from dead cyborgs in order to save his dying lover, Ria (Seo Rin), a cyborg just days away from shutting down. Intent on stopping R, however, is his compatriot, Agent A, who knows something more may be amiss.

Winner of “Best Visual Effects” at the 2004 Grand Bell Awards (the Korean equivalent of the Oscar); nominated for “Best Film” at the 2005 Fantasporto Awards; and a participant at the Pusan International Film Festival, Edinburgh Film Festival, San Francisco Asian Film Festival, Seattle Film Festival and Hawaii International Film Festival.

Korean, with English and Spanish subtitles, Natural City is presented in anamorphic widescreen, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound and DTS Surround Sound 5.1. Special DVD features include the story of Natural City; deleted scenes; cast interviews; original theatrical trailer; and trailers of Tartan Asia Extreme’s upcoming releases.
