A DISTURBING TALE - AN UNFORGETTABLE PERFORMANCE

HE WAS A QUIET MAN ROARS ONTO DVD FROM ANCHOR BAY ENTERTAINMENT

The Madness Begins January 15th

BURBANK, CA – Anchor Bay Entertainment is releasing the disturbing story that could be ripped from today’s headlines. HE WAS A QUIET MAN, available on DVD on January 15, 2008, is an uncompromising study of our paranoid times with a performance by Christian Slater (Heathers) that firmly establishes him alongside the best actors of his generation.

HE WAS A QUIET MAN, called “The Bastard Child of Brazil, Fight Club and Amelie” by TIME OUT, is a dramatic and darkly humorous dive into the mind of madness. Company man Bob Maconel (Slater) is beaten down by the system and finds himself pushed to the point of no return as he escapes into a world of violent fantasies involving co-workers and the gun he now brings to work. This wannabe killer turns accidental hero when he saves a troubled girl named Venessa (Elisha Cuthbert, “24”) from another man's bullet. Soon Bob’s boss (William H. Macy, Wild Hogs) is doing an executive make-over on the new “hero,” but good fortune will turn to bad times as the object of Bob’s desire asks for a favor, a favor that will test his love…and sanity.

“I wanted to take the insanity of corporate America and the frustration of its workers and put a human face on the inner thoughts and feelings of the people that inhabit that world,” says writer/director/ producer Frank Cappello. “Christian gives the performance of his life as a man-on-the-edge who is ready to implode and instead, finds happiness. Elisha is breathtaking in an extremely difficult role both physically and emotionally, and Macy’s performance is, as always, nuanced and impeccable as the cut-throat corporate executive.”

Winner of directing, cinematography and best-picture awards at several festivals, HE WAS A QUIET MAN is a film that will not be ignored and with a lead performance that won’t soon be forgotten.
