First
Releases
NEW YORK, NY
(January 8,
2007)
Central Park
Media, a
17-year old
New
York-based
video
publisher,
announced
today that
it is
launching a
new home
video label,
Below the
Radar™,
targeting
customers
looking for
entertaining
programming
that is not
necessarily
mainstream.
Taking
inspiration
from classic
drive-in
movies, sexy
late night
documentaries
and wacky
comedies,
Below The
Radar will
be the
source of
"desirable
oddballs" –
those
offbeat,
non-mainstream
motion
pictures and
programs
that have
always had a
devoted
consumer
base. The
label, to be
distributed
by WEA
Corporation
(Warner
Music
Group's U.S.
sales &
retail
marketing
company),
will feature
both recent
movies, and
also older
oddball
films
previously
overlooked
because of
their
eccentricities.
Kicking off
with A
Perfect
Fake, a
“darkly
fascinating
and
perversely
compelling”
documentary
and Silver
Plaque
winner at
the Chicago
International
Television
Awards,
Below the
Radar will
provide a
wide range
of unique
programs,
sourced
internationally,
and released
on home
video for
the first
time. A
Perfect Fake
examines the
"deeply
disturbing"
and
generally
secret world
of
"mannequin
fetishists,"
men who
selfishly
project
reality into
inanimate
objects, in
order to
quench their
unusual
desires for
sexual
gratification
and control.
Subsequent
releases
beginning in
the second
quarter of
2007 will
include
"homegrown
horror
howlers"
such as the
black comedy
horror film,
BACKSLASH.
This Kevin
Campbell
film (he of
the cult
classic,
CHEERLEADER
NINJAS,
fame), which
includes the
notorious,
and
intellectually
raucous,
kitchen
bloodbath
scene, will
street in
May. David
Sterling's
KISSED BY AN
AXE will
follow in
those bloody
footsteps in
June.

Myths and
stories
abound that
speak to
man's desire
to bring
life to
inanimate
matter. A
PERFECT FAKE
looks at the
persistence
of these
myths in
modern times
and takes us
into the
world of men
who have
chosen to
reject the
reality of
human sexual
companionship
in order to
pursue
emotional
and physical
bonds with a
variety of
erotic
surrogates.
This film
examines the
emerging
market for
hyper-realisitic
simulations
of real
women
through
computer-generated
virtual
pornography
and erotica.
A PERFECT
FAKE also
delves into
the
disturbing
world of men
who share
their lives
with
life-size
female love
dolls.
A PERFECT
FAKE is a
compelling
study of how
new
technologies
extend
age-old
human
desires for
gratification
and control.
