ADV ANNOUNCES SEPTEMBER 19 RELEASES

HOUSTON, July 21, 2006— ADV Films, the number one producer-distributor of anime outside of Japan, is pleased to announce three exciting titles set to hit the streets on September 19, including the first volume of Comic Party: Revolution TV, the fifth volume of Kalideo Star: New Wings, and the final volume of Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok!

COMIC PARTY REVOLUTION TV: LET’S GET THIS PARTY STARTED

A Brand New Version of the Fan-Favorite Series

ADV is proud to bring you the first installment of the hilarious and heart-felt series Comic Party Revolution TV, slated to hit store shelves on September 19.  This retelling of the original Comic Party TV series offers an insider’s look at the world of fan comics that’s totally hilarious (and a little bit frightening).

After failing his examinations, Sendo Kazuki spends his days aimlessly – that is, until his childhood friend, Taishi, drags Kazuki into the world of fan comics.  But this harmless diversion soon becomes an obsession as Kazuki is drawn further into otaku culture.  In the dog-eat-dog world of fan comics, you need more than talent to realize your dreams!

Synopsis: A man-made island sits on the edge of Tokyo, well off the beaten path. The time is drawing near when this island of cold concrete will be set afire with passion. People will gather to draw manga, search for manga, and get passionate about manga! It’s a joyous celebration of individuals who’ve staked their entire youths on doujinshi. It’s - Comic Party!  We rejoin Kazuki and Mizuki as college students as they immerse themselves in the otaku subculture. Kazuki has grown more confident in his abilities as a doujinshi (amateur comic) artist, but will all the girls distract him or help him succeed? And what of Taishi’s plans for world domination? Parodies abound and wackiness ensues in the first chapter of Comic Party Revolution TV!

Comic Party Revolution TV: Let’s Get This Party Started  (SRP $29.98 DVD) is a DVD-only release including the first five episodes, presented in both English 2.0 and Japanese 2.0 with English subtitles.  Extras include interviews with Riko Sayama (Mizuki), Mie Sonozali (Aya), Shizuka Ishikawa (Eimi), and Sumie Baba (Chisa), a segment on “The Language of Doujinshi,” and “What is Comic Party? (Part 1),” plus clean opening animation, clean closing animation and previews of upcoming ADV Films releases

KALEIDO STAR NEW WINGS: ANGEL & ANATHEMA

“An Extraordinary Series In A Class All Its Own.” – Underland Online

ADV Films is pleased to announce a September 19 street date for Kaleido Star New Wings: Angel & Anathema, the fifth volume in the second season of the acclaimed anime series.  “Kaleido Star is something you fall in love with” (Anime Advanced).

Directed by Junichi Sato (Princess Tutu, Sailor Moon), Kaleido Star is a charming animated series aimed at tweens and teens, combining playful elements of children’s anime with the sophisticated vision of Cirque du Soleil. Kaleido Star combines a sense of fun and play—such a crucial element of Sailor Moon—with a believably positive storyline that emphasizes empowerment through bravery and determination.

Synopsis: It all comes down to this…Leon pushes Sora to new extremes as he continues her special training to perfect the Angel’s Maneuver. After experiencing new lows, she soars to new heights.  Just when it seems that Sora’s dream will finally become a reality, a challenger for the lead role comes along. Sora’s determination to keep her role forces her to face her competition head on.  Her heart starts racing…Her stomach is full of butterflies…She experiences the thrill of competition…and she likes it.  After an impressive audition, the lead role is decided and the show goes on!  Will Sora be able to perform a perfect Angel’s Maneuver and awaken everyone’s angel hearts?  You’ll just have to watch to find out!

Kalideo Star New Wings: Angel &Anathema (SRP $29.98 DVD) is a DVD-only release including four fun-filled episodes, presented in both English 5.1 and Japanese 2.0 with English subtitles.  Extras include production sketches, Kaleido Star Comics, an interview with director Junichi Sato, commentary with Mike MacRae (Leon), another commentary with Illich Guardiola (Yuri), plus clean opening animation, clean closing animation, and previews of upcoming ADV Films releases.

MYTHICAL DETECTIVE LOKI RAGNAROK: END OF DAYS

“Wonderful!” – Underland Online

ADV Films is proud to announce the final volume in the hit anime series Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok: End of Days, which hits stores everywhere September 19.  “Fans of all ages should give this extremely funny and action-packed show a look” (ToonZone.com).

Directed by Hiroshi Watanabe (King of Bandit Jing, Video Girl Ai), Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok is funny, charming, and macabre.  Loki is the Norse god of mischief, now banished to Earth by Odin.  Forced to exist in exile in a little boy’s body – but with all the powers of a god – Loki runs a private detective agency.  Alongside his trusted assistant, Yamino, and a beautiful high school girl, Mayura, they set out to shine a light into the deepest corners of the paranormal.  But there is one metaphysical mystery remains: Just what in the Heavens has Loki done to find himself banished to Earth?

Synopsis: It’s time to play family feud, but the fun n’ games are over, as Fenrir and Yamino are forced to choose between father and sister. Will Ragnarok, war of the gods, be nothing more than a family reunion gone afoul? And what’s to become of Mayura? As the gods prepare to depart this mortal coil, will she fall hostage to Hel’s wrath, or will she face an even worse fate, deserted by her only friends forever? As the saying goes, “All good things must come to an end.” But will the final chapter be written in blood, or will the saga conclude with kisses and hugs? Find out in the final installment of Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok!
