SIGNS PUBLISHING AGREEMENT FOR “CAPTAIN BLOOD”
Company adds pirate action game based on Rafael Sabatini novel
to line-up
Amsterdam, Sept. 22, 2005 –
Playlogic Entertainment, Inc. today announced the acquisition of
“Captain Blood” for Xbox360 and PC. “Captain Blood” is a pirate
action game based on Rafael Sabatini’s novel, “Captain Blood:
His Odyssey,” about the notorious Captain Peter Blood.
The game is being developed by Russian studio Akella, which is
currently developing “Age of Pirates” for Playlogic as well, and
created the successful pirate titles “Sea Dogs,” “Age of Sail
2,” and “Pirates of the Caribbean.”
The game is being produced in cooperation with leading Eastern
European games publisher 1C Company and is scheduled to be
released in early summer 2006.
The player takes the role of a brave and noble corsair,
following his intriguing and amazing adventures in 1685 Spanish
Main, where an English surgeon was framed and condemned to penal
servitude on Barbados. During hard times he became a pirate and
escaped from his tropical prison. The Caribbean was quickly set
ablaze by his deeds and exploits. Captain Blood gives players an
extraordinary chance to live the life of the most eccentric
pirate from Rafael Sabatini’s bestselling book.
While the Spanish Maritime Empire spread around the world, the
"Spanish Main" referred to the coastal region of the Americas
surrounding the Caribbean Sea, particularly the coast of South
America from the Isthmus of Panama to the mouth of the Orinoco
River.
The game's mission-based structure gives players a diverse
battlefield on both land and sea, where they must engage in
ship-to-ship battles and sword fights to gain control of invaded
ships. Gamers earn special points for fighting rival sea dogs,
acquiring new fighting techniques and gold for weapons and
equipment.
According to Stefan Layer, COO/VP of Playlogic, ““Captain Blood”
will be an important element of our portfolio strategy for 2006.
We are glad to extend our cooperation with 1C.”
"We are very happy to team up with Playlogic in our second deal
with them," said Nikolay Baryshnikov, International Sales

is a very important project for us. Moreover, we are very
excited to be developing it for both the Xbox 360 and PC
platforms. The title is based on the favorite adventure story of
millions of readers, and we want to create a fabulous and rich
world of swashbuckling adventure for the huge gaming fan base
