As I Lay
Dying is
presently
writing
their 3rd
album, for
Metal Blade
records. The
band will be
heading to
Europe as
main support
for Bullet
For My
Valentine in
October/November
2006.
Joe Nunez (Soulfly)
is currently
headlining
with Full
Blown Chaos,
Incite, and
Wicked
Wisdom in
support
through the
beginning of
October.
Following
that,
Soulfly
becomes part
of the
international
Gigantour
lineup and
will do
several
shows in
Australia at
the end of
the month.
Joe is also
looking
forward to a
Christmas
Day show in
India. Be
sure to pick
up Joe’s new
Uni-Badge
drum head
protector,
due out
soon.
Chris Pennie
(Dillinger
Escape Plan)
just
finished a
summer tour
with AFI and
Coheed and
Cambria, and
the band is
already
planning
their next
record, with
a tentative
release date
of Summer
’07. In the
meantime,
Chris will
be playing
and teaching
at drum
clinics
later this
fall, while
keeping
loose
with
Dillinger
guitarist
Ben Weiman
at improv-style
shows
throughout
New York.
Also, Chris
is sharing
drumming
duties on
the new
Idiot Pilot
album with
Plus 44’s
Travis
Barker,
which is out
NOW on
Reprise
Records.
Derek Roddy
(Blotted
Science),
after
splitting
with Blotted
Science
inAugust, is
going on a
clinic tour
for Sonar
Drums in
beginning of
October.
He’ll be
playing
select dates
in
California.
Derek is
also
releasing
the first
extreme-metal
drum
notation
book,
Evolution of
the Blast
Beat: Life
and Blood of
Extreme
Metal
Drumming,
which will
be out by
January. One
of Derek’s
two side
projects,
Serpents
Rise, will
be recording
early next
year,while
the other,
Traumedy,
has already
posted some
new tracks
on their
website.
Tom Taitano
(Totalist)
and the rest
of the band
are looking
to get more
exposure for
their
independent
release,
Slave To
None, on
Magna Carta
Records. The
band will be
playing
shows in
their home
state of
Washington.
Kenneth
Schalk (Candiria)
Drum Nation
Volume 3
might be
your last
chance to
hear the
talents of
former
Candiria
drummer.
Kenneth
Schalk is
one of the
most
impressively
creative and
diverse
drummers
ever to sit
behind a
kit. After a
split with
the band in
August,
Kenneth
moved to the
West Coast
to take a
break from
the music
business.
